St. Patrick’s Day
1. Saint
Patrick was a 5th-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in
Ireland. Known as the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron
saint of Ireland, along with Saints Brigit and Columba.
2. The
Origins of St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's Day celebrates the Roman Catholic
feast day of the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick died on March 17, 461.
3. St. Patrick’s day is made on March 17th
because it’s the day he died
4. On
St Patrick's Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing or
accessories (the "wearing of the green"). St Patrick is said to have
used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the
pagan Irish.[13][14] This story first appears in writing in 1726, though it may
be older.
